µTorrent Google gadget moves to a new home!
Welcome to the new home of the µTorrent Google gadget. Drop this gadget into your Google home page, or any web page, to remotely monitor your torrents when you are away from home. I wrote it to check up on my torrents while I'm at the office. It sits in my Google home page next to gmail and my RSS feeds. But you could use it at school or on your PDA.
Note that the Google gadget does not work with Internet Explorer yet. I'll keep you posted.
Installation of the Google gadget is straightforward but first you need to setup the µTorrent Web UI, which can be a little tricky, especially if you are behind a firewall. The µTorrent Web UI forum is the best place to get instructions and help. Once that's working you can install the gadget and point it at your µTorrent box at home.
- Go to your Google home page .
- Add the google gadget. It isn't listed with Google (yet) so use the "Add by URL" option. The URL is http://thinkpond.org.googlepages.com/uTorrent.xml.
- Enter the IP address and port of µTorrent and your guest username, which defaults to just "guest".
Alternatively, if you want to add the gadget to a different web page, for example if you have your own web site, you can get the HTML here.
After a few seconds (or maybe minutes if µTorrent is using a lot of bandwidth!) you'll see your torrents.
